Companion Dog Training

We provide classes designed to help you teach your dog to be a pleasant companion whose company you enjoy, and who enjoys life.  However we acknowledge that in today's busy world not everyone can commit to a regular weekly class.  We have therefore designed a flexible system that allows you to attend classes when you can, but also keeps you under a little pressure to come often enough to allow you to make progress and see change.

IMPORTANT: PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE NOT CURRENTLY TAKING ON NEW TRAINING CLIENTS DUE TO THE COVD-19 OUTBREAK AND THEREFORE NO INDUCTIONS ARE CURRENTLY AVAILABLE.

When you join us you sign up for a FREE, twenty minute induction session.  This is one to one and allows you and your dog to settle in the training room whilst we explain how dogs learn and how we will teach them.  This way you will be able to feel more comfortable right from the off when you join classes.  Book your free Induction from the link on the Calendar page.

You then buy a subscription package of four classes a month.  As this is a subscription, please note that the system will take another payment on the monthly anniversary for the next four classes unless you cancel it.  You will receive two emails: one is a receipt and the second will have a link to the schedule, where you book yourself into the classes you wish to attend.  These will be acknowledged by email and text reminder; you will also be able to change them from the email if it is necessary to reschedule one.

This is a new system for us and we welcome feedback on it!  So far it is working well and we are enjoying seeing the dogs and owners succeed.

TC Bronze

This class is for older puppies, "new to you" rehomed or rescued dogs, or older dogs who need to restart their basic training for any reason. From time to time Kennel Club Good Citizens Scheme Bronze Award assessments will be held and dogs are intended to be able to pass this easily when they have mastered all of the content of this class; however we are not limiting ourselves to this Scheme nor teaching "to the test", but aiming to produce a well behaved pet dog and an owner with the knowledge and confidence to tackle more complex learning should they wish to or troubleshoot issues that crop up at home.

When you and your instructor(s) agree that you and your dog have mastered all of the tasks you will be invited to join the Silver group.  Any classes you have already booked at Bronze level can be rescheduled.

This course starts looking at more complex behaviours and teaching the dog to work away from the handler. From time to time Kennel Club Good Citizens Scheme Gold Award assessments will be held and dogs are intended to be able to pass this easily when they have mastered all of the content of this class; however we are not limiting ourselves to this Scheme nor teaching "to the test", but aiming to help you produce a pet dog to be truly proud of.

How the classes work:

Because different dogs learn at different rates, and because not everybody can commit to a fixed one evening a week, we have tried to make these classes as flexible as possible, while still delivering a well structured format so that you keep progressing steadily. Therefore, instead of paying for a fixed six or eight week course, we have set this up as a monthly subscription, which entitles you to four classes a month at whichever level is appropriate for you and your dog. We put on at least two classes a week at each level, so you always have some flexibility - and it also means that, if you go away for a week or can't make it for some reason, you don't lose out as you can do two the week before or the week after! This also means that once you have completed one level, you can go straight into the next level without any lead time waiting for the next set of classes to start.

You can cancel your monthly subscription at any time; it's £60 a month total (that's including VAT) and once you've bought the subscription you can use the online booking service to book into whichever classes you wish to attend. You'll get four per month, with the month running from the anniversary day of the month that you sign up (so if you subscribe on 15 January, your four will run from the fifteenth of each month to the fourteenth of the following month, and then refresh) - these sessions do not carry over from month to month. There is a maximum number of four people per session for one instructor, or six if two instructors are available, so please make sure you do book in advance - the booking system will only show you classes where we still have spaces left. I'm afraid that if you book a class and don't turn up, we can't re-credit you with the missed session, but if you book one and realise you can't make it, you can use the link in the email you'll get in order to cancel your booking (provided it's 24 hours or more before the start of the session).

If you'd like to know more about this, please feel free to email or call us, or alternatively follow the link below if you're ready to sign up - we look forward to meeting you and your dog!
